SLMA Mosque is more than a place of worship. It is a home for faith, unity, and service. With your support, we strive to uplift lives, strengthen our community, and extend compassion to those in need. Together, we can build a brighter and more hopeful future.
This section offers a simple introduction to Islam — a faith built on peace, compassion, and devotion to the One Creator.
Through prayer, charity, and community, Islam guides us to live with purpose and righteousness.
Below, you can explore the foundations of our faith and learn how each aspect brings us closer to Allah.

Islam is more than a religion — it is a complete way of life ordained by Allah for all humanity. It teaches belief in one God, kindness to others, and striving for goodness in every action. Muslims follow the teachings of the Qur’an and the example of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, seeking peace in their hearts and justice in the world.

Prayer is at the heart of a Muslim’s daily life. The five daily prayers — known as Salah — keep believers connected with their Creator, reminding us of gratitude, patience, and humility. Each prayer brings spiritual discipline and peace to the heart.

Giving is a vital act of worship in Islam. Through Zakah (obligatory charity) and Sadaqah (voluntary charity), Muslims share their wealth to support those in need. These acts not only purify our income but also strengthen community bonds and social justice.

Every year, Muslims fast during the blessed month of Ramadan, from dawn to sunset. Fasting teaches self-control, empathy for the poor, and spiritual renewal. It is a time of reflection, charity, and deep connection with Allah.

For those able to do so, Hajj — the pilgrimage to Makkah — is a sacred duty once in a lifetime. It symbolises unity, equality, and devotion, bringing Muslims from around the world together in worship. Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage, can be performed at any time of the year for spiritual benefit.

The South London Muslim Association offers short courses and workshops for those who wish to learn more about Islam and Muslim life. Our sessions are open to everyone — whether you’re exploring the faith or simply curious to understand it better.

If you’re new to Islam or considering becoming Muslim, our team offers dedicated support, classes, and mentoring to help you begin your journey with confidence and understanding. You’ll find guidance, friendship, and a welcoming community to grow your faith.

Islam calls for peace, compassion, and justice. Through worship, good deeds, and sincere faith, every believer strives to make this world a better place.
